EMG ABC Balance Control

I think they ask too much for what their controls offer.
They're solid products, but you're paying a premium for developmental costs and profit greed.
What I like is that you can slap any combination of passive and active pickups on this, it acts as a buffer. After the ABC, you use pot values for active circuitry.
I don't mind tinkering, so I wanted to see if I can mod this for a long shaft on a 2 humbucker guitar.
It is really hard to desolder all points of the PCB at once, and it was not possible to find a double stacked mini pot with a long shaft that would work with this.
The premise of this device is nice and I wanted to use it for more tonal control on that 2 humbucker guitar. But I have not been able to use it as such.
If they would make these with long shafts too, it would be perfect.

Got this to change my EMG-equipped Fender Jazz to volume - blend - master tone. It does this well, but hadn’t realised that I also had to get a new tone pot (active, not passive) to go with. Having done so, it works well, though there isn’t much room for the battery under the metal control plate — you need to remove the under-plate washers from the pots to make it all fit, it’s that tight. I’m very happy with the unit, less so with the installation process and am not looking forward to changing the battery. But no routing required, just about.

Avec le temps j'ai appris à utiliser toutes les possibilités qu'offre un instrument à deux micros, des fender et squier JB pour ma part.

J'ai donc été confronté au problème de baisse de niveau de sortie dès qu'on baisse le niveau d'un micro par rapport à l'autre. Dans les faits, au delà de votre propre perception, cela est "chiant" pour la personne qui vous sonorise à l'occasion des concerts. De plus c'est chiant aussi pour soit, car difficile à retrouver exactement sur scène. Je cherchais donc une balance, mais là encore, problème de niveau sortie, cette fois sur la position à 50/50, obligeant à jouer avec le potard de volume. de ce fait je n'avait jamais franchi le pas de passer mes doubles volumes en balances. Puis en regardant le site d'EMG, je suis tombé sur cette balance.

Force est de constater que ça fait très bien le boulo! On perd un peu l'effet "double" qu'on obtenait avec les deux potards de volumes séparés mais au moins, on maitrise facilement "son" volume. Le copain aux manettes n'en est que plus heureux;) Bref aujourd'hui j'en commande un deuxième pour ma 5 cordes car je ne peut plus m'en passer.
