MXR Phase 100

Cuando empecé a tocar la guitarra eléctrica siempre soñaba con tener uno. Se diferenciaba del Phase 90 en el número de celulas de desfase y por su mayor profundidad de modulación gracias a su acoplamiento óptico con las LDRs que gobiernan esas celulas de desfase. Pero me tenía que conformar mirándolo desde el escaparate con la nariz pegada al cristal. Ahora, gracias a Dunlop, he tenido la oportunidad de tener uno. Y Dunlop no sólo ha respetado los cosméticos de la época sino que ha añadido mejoras necesarias como la alimentación con un adaptador de corriente (no incluido) y un diodo LED que te avisa cuando lo has seleccionado. Todo un clásico para los amantes de los phasings.

I've owned several phasers like Phase 90, Small Stone, multi-effects pedals and boutique stuff like Grand Orbiter and HBE Psilocybe. They're all pretty good on bass, but Phase 100 is the one I always come back to. It's the most unique one (not a single boutique phaser is based on it), and it simply sounds the best on bass guitar to me.

It has a rich, detailed voice that never turns into mud for live application (unlike many dark sounding OTA and Opto phasers), and it absolutely NAILS the "For the Love of Money" tone unlike most other phasers I had. Part of that tonal uniqueness is the fact that it's a 10 stage phaser (6 modulating + 4 fixed). It's very liquidy, and has a bit of flanger-like quality to it as well. In comparison to say Phase 90, it doesn't have the same low mid bump and so I find it more pleasing in the mix and less grating. It works really well with dirt and fuzz pedals, as expected.

I haven't noticed any tonal loss when it's off, even though it's a hardwire bypass and not a true bypass, but I tend to have a good buffer in front of my board and at the very end. You can't really go wrong with MXR phasers in general. Let me just leave with this quote: "Favorite phaser? The orange one."

Love the pedal. It sounds great and very simple to use. Surprising the wide range of sounds can be achieved with just two controls. Works really well with some reverb and the MXR Compressor which is also a very good and easy to use pedal. The simplicity may mean it is slightly less versatile than other modulation pedals that offer phaser, flanger, univibe type option, but this pedal gets pretty close. Sound is also crystal clear.

Ich suchte einen Effekt für Akustikgitarre. Ich beziehe mich insbesondere auf den Vergleich zu dem 90 und dem script 90. KLarster Unterschied: die beiden letzt genannten verändern den Frequenzweg leider sehr stark. Sie "phasen" deutlich extremer, was für E-Gitarre sicherlich okay ist. Und da wird es auch nicht stören, dass vor allem die Bässe deutlich angehoben werden. Bei einer Akustik Gitarre kommt man SOFORT ins Feedback (sofern kein Feedback Buster im Loch ist). Da komm ich selbst mit dem MXR Micro Amp noch nicht ins Koppeln. Der 100 fügt keine Bässe hinzu, überhaupt kein Problem. Die verschiedenen Einstellungen bieten eine schöne AUswahl, zwei davon sehr höhenreich (je nach Phase), die anderen moderater. Die Schwingungen sind weniger extrem als bei den 90ern. Für Akustik definitiv die EINZIGE Wahl.
