Nux Morning Star OD

It has a high input impedance, thus keeps the high frequencies intact. Also you can chose to use "true bypass" or buffered bypass, the last gives you always high input impedance.
I don't like the way you have to select between the 2 (holding the foor switch during powering up).

The gain control knob is more a low-cut control than a gain control.
You have the most lows when gain is at minimum. Already around 9 o'clock you will notice some bass is removed, this is not an error, but a design choice. More gain = less bass. You can use this as tight control when using a high gain pedal further on the chain.
With my tele, the distortion starts around 1 o'clock, but even with the gain at max, there is not much distortion.
I don't like the distortion that much, it is not bad, but... Well, I admit, I am not that much of a fan of opamp+diode-clipping distortion.

The combination of the TONE knob plus the SHINE funtion gives you enough room for finding the right balance of high content.

It does not like switch mode power supplies.
I use a linear power supply from Electro-Harmonix, that works fine.

Overall I like it for the buffering and the low and high frequency filtering.
I think that I will use it a lot.

Habe mir den kleinen Morning Star für zu Hause gekauft um ihn über verschiedene Amps im Cleansetting zu spielen.
Er erzeugt einen sehr warmen Zerrsound, welchen man fast erst ab der 9h Stellung oder später wahrnimmt. Viel Gain erzeugt er nicht, aber dafür ist er auch nicht gemacht. Da gibt es andere Pedale. Für mich macht er einen recht dynamischen Eindruck, welcher sich nach dem Einschalten des Shine Modus noch verstärkt. In diesem Modus bringt er nochmal eine ganze Menge Höhen mit und klingt plötzlich offen und rotziger. Wenn man will. Entsprechend erhöht sich auch der Zerrgrad deutlich!
Er klingt an allen Amps etwas unterschiedlich, was aber auch relativ normal ist. Man muss es einfach ausprobieren. Habe allerdings festgestellt, dass er mir über einige Amps mit Humbucker nicht gefallen hat. Mit Singlecoils, sprich Strat oder Tele, hat er immer eine gute Figur gemacht!!! Daher sage ich mal aus meiner Sicht, Perfekt für Singlecoils!
Von der Bedienung her gibt es nichts auszusetzen, zumal die Potis alle eine fast normale Größe haben. Also keine Fingerakrobatik. Nur lassen sie sich sehr leicht drehen, was ich nicht so sehr mag. Der Druckknopf geht schön soft.
Was mich aber schon gestört hat, waren die Knackgeräusche beim aktivieren des Pedals. Genauso wie beim Umschalten in den Shine Modus. Es ist nicht besonders laut, aber je nach Lautstärke des Amps hörbar. Vielleicht auch nur eine Ausnahme? Da ich mir parallel zum Morning Star auch den Mooer Blues Crab gekauft habe ( ganz großes Kino ) ging der Nux leider wieder zurück. Wäre das leichte Knacken nicht gewesen, hätte ich ihn vielleicht sogar behalten,....wie gesagt,....nicht schlecht!
