Introduction & Rationale
As an audio technician, I look for three things in an active loudspeaker: transient response, versatile processing, and reliability. The PreSonus AIR XD 15 delivers impressively on the first two. I’ve deployed these units for several live performances now, and they consistently punch above their weight class in terms of output. The 15-inch woofer provides a rich, "meaty" low-end that negates the need for a dedicated subwoofer in smaller-to-medium venues, which is a massive plus for streamlined setups.

Performance & Features
The standout feature here is undoubtedly the DSP engine. The presets are musically tuned and actually useful in the field—whether you’re pole-mounting them or using them as floor monitors, the EQ curves compensate perfectly for boundary coupling.

Furthermore, the Bluetooth integration is a lifesaver for corporate gigs or pre-show music. The ability to pair two speakers wirelessly for a true stereo image is a sophisticated touch that removes the clutter of extra cabling without sacrificing too much signal integrity.

The Caveats
If there is a "con" to these cabinets, it is the physical footprint. These are heavy units. While the build quality feels rugged and "road-ready," the weight makes load-ins a bit of a workout; I certainly wouldn't mind if PreSonus found a way to shave off a few kilograms in future iterations.

Additionally, logistics can be a headache. I was disappointed to find that major retailers like Thomann don’t stock the dedicated transport bags. I had to source them locally at a premium price to protect the finish. If you plan on touring these, factor in the extra cost for protection immediately.

Conclusion
The AIR XD 15 is a sonically superior speaker that provides a massive, "expensive" sound and modern wireless convenience. If you don't mind the heavy lifting and can track down the covers, they are a formidable choice for any live sound inventory.
