Showtec LED Octostrip Set MKII

I bought these to use as a backdrop lighting fixture, something a little different from drapes and starcloths.

The light output is great, they're bright but aren't blinding as you are supposed to look at the fixture more than the light it generates. That said, when used as a rear wash from the stage, they really backlight the band well.

The newer version of the strips come with a cable instead of a built in 5 pin connector which is great for the strips closest to the control box but I will need to see how well they hold up.

To summarise, these make a quirky fixture for backdrops - great for bands and club settings - with a good build quality. Just remember that they are not intended to be a wash light or LED bar in the traditional sense!

I like them so much, I plan to order another set!

Bought these to extend my lighting capabilities,
First off, As an efx style light these are superb, every job im on with them people love them. They look so sleek and the built in colour change designs in DMX auto mode (14ch DMX setting) are great, the light movement looks so much more fluid than most other of these batten style lights Ive seen in the past.

As has been mentioned before in a previous review, DO NOT Purchase these if you are looking for illumination, they are more for aesthetic lighting design where you "look at the light itself", but that being said, for what they are intended for, the light output is very good..

Now for my only two Con's (Reason for 4/5 stars)
The built in DMX cable coming from the back of the fittings is not in a good position and would be better placed at the very bottom of the fitting in my opinion
Secondly, the brackets for them that can be purchased separately also need to be redesigned in my opinion. I left a review on them that goes into detail about that issue.

Overall, the light and its features itself are fantastic. It just has a small issue with its design. I would recommend people be very careful when using them in a mobile rig as the cable on the back could get damaged if they get yanked enough while rig/de-rigging.

Even with these issues, they are still worth it for me...

Pour commencer, j'utilise l'octostrip en discomobile ainsi qu'en événementiel.

J'adore le rendu des couleurs, et la puissance est vraiment idéal pour ajouter un élément de décoration sur une petit voir moyenne scène. Le but n'étant pas d'éclairer mais de décorer ou habiller une scène.

Pour ce qui est de la qualité des barres, il faut en prendre soin, car ça reste très fin et donc très fragile, mais du coup discret et élégant. Le seul bémol, c'est les câbles, car il sont très spécifiques et donc quasi impossible d'en racheter d'autre pour rallonger les existant, à moins de vendre un rein.

Je ne peux donc que vous recommander l'octostrip si vous chercher quelque chose d'original avec de grande possibilité.
