Squier Sonic Bronco Black

Tenia ganas de probar un bajo de escala corta y dado su precio me decidí por el bronco. Me sorprendió gratamente, ya que por el precio esperaba algo peor. El mástil tiene muy buen acabado. Es muy cómodo de tocar. El sonido es algo apagado, le falta cuerpo, pero se puede solucionar con un cambio de pastilla. Es divertido de tocar. La afinación la mantiene bastante bien. Es ideal para principiantes e incluso para dar algún concierto en lugares pequeños, bien ecualizado.

I bought the Squier Bronco Bass with one clear goal in mind: to use it as a modding platform. After spending some time with it, both stock and upgraded, I can say it is a surprisingly solid base instrument.

Pros:

- The stock sound is actually quite decent. It has its own character, and while swapping to a P-Bass style single coil gives a fuller, more classic tone, the original pickup is far from bad. It is usable right out of the box.
- Build quality is respectable for the price. Nothing feels overly cheap or fragile.
- The tuning machines hold tuning well.
- Frets are well finished with no major issues.
- The bass came reasonably well set up from the factory.
- It is light and very comfortable to play, great for long sessions.

Cons:

- The stock pickguard looks quite cheap.
- The neck had a slightly unfinished, matte feel. A quick pass with 2000 grit sandpaper, about a minute of work, fixed it.
- The tuners are fine functionally, but I do not like how they look. This is subjective.

Modifications:

- New pickup (Bare Knuckle 51 Flat), new pickguard, Fender HiMass bridge, new pots.
- After these upgrades, it feels like a completely different instrument. Fuller sound, better response, overall much more serious bass.

Final thoughts:

- As a stock instrument, it is solid and fully usable.
- As a modding platform, it is excellent and highly recommended.

Dadurch, dass ein normaler Stratstyle Singlecoil verbaut ist, ist es sehr einfach und kostengünstig die Elektronik zu tauschen.
Der Korpus verfügt bereits über eine Fräsung, die groß genug für einen Humbucker wäre, man muss nur den Pickguard modifizieren.

Das Instrument ist auch standartmäßig gut bespielbar und es ist möglich brauchbare Klänge raus zu bekommen. Jedoch sind die Mechaniken, sowie die Brücke sehr, sehr billig anmutend. Die Standard Mechaniken können sogar etwas Probleme bereiten, da in meinem Fall zB die Saiten etwas zu dick für das Loch, indem die Saite verankert wird, war und der Saitenwechsel dadurch etwas mühselig wurde. Habe die Mechaniken dann durch Mechaniken von Gotho getauscht, diese benötigen jedoch eine größere Bohrung (so wie alle aftermarket Tuner), können daher nicht ohne Weiteres getauscht werden.

Ansonsten ist die Basis, sprich Korpus und Hals wirklich sehr gut brauchbar. Das Halsprofil ist für mich nahezu perfekt. Die Bünde waren auch sauber abgerichtet.
