Excellent sound for the price, with impressive projection and sustain from the body. This could easily have been a guitar I’d keep for fingerstyle — if not for small fabrication tolerances that made the particular unit I received problematic for my playing style.
1. The saddle slot was about 0.2–0.3 mm too wide (or the saddle too slim), allowing it to lean slightly towards the soundhole under string tension and making 12th-fret intonation noticeably sharp.
2. Intonation at the 12th fret was over 10 cents sharp on the lower strings, suggesting the saddle was roughly 2 mm too far forward.
3. The nut sat about 0.3 mm too low, causing a slight shimmer of fret buzz.
Loosening the truss rod by half a turn might have cured the buzz but would have increased an action that was already on the high side. Had I more confidence in the build tolerances, I’d have had a luthier fit a compensated saddle and new nut optimised for Custom Light strings. However, with multiple issues and the risk that further setup work might not fully resolve the intonation, I reluctantly returned it — a pity, as it was very close to being excellent.
I’m sure other buyers have been luckier and are very happy with their units.
