Mostly great, potentially a bit power starved

I bought this to house diy NLC modules, which are mercifully low on their power requirements. It’s worth noting that this has the lowest power rating / hp of all Doepfer monsters (go one up and you get two psus for four rows, go one down and you get one psu for two rows). It’s utterly fine for low current modules, but do plan it out if going more mainstream.

I also bought this to go on top of a 12u monster. It works, it is stable, but it’s also worth noting that the connecting hinges needed to be drilled out to connect the cases together. They are not a clean fit.

The case itself is great! Deep, spacious, sensible rails. I don’t need the portability, but some of the additional costs over eg an ADDAC whopper is in the flight case design. It’s great as a flat against the wall case, and totally does it’s job.

Not deep enough to hold a spring reverb tank flat / horizontal. Pretty much the only fitting challenge I’ve hit!

The iconic Doepfer monster case

I already had the older version of this case that I bought second hand. This new version comes with keyed power connectors, so it is impossible to connect the power cables incorrectly. This was one of two things missing from the design. The last thing missing (to earn 5 starts for features) is a bit deeper lid to fit the A-174-4 joystick module. Regular joystick modules and all other modules fit just fine.

The case is deep, so that even the deepest modules fit it just fine.

It is sturdy, I've taken mine on the road several times. I feel comfortable sitting on it.

It has pleanty of power.

It looks just great with the iconic text "A-100 ANALOG MODULAR SYSTEM". And they look impresive when stacked.

Highly recomended!

Ich habe mein Modularsystem zunächst mit Gehäusen und Netzteilen anderer Hersteller aufgebaut. Immer klappte etwas nicht: zu wenig Leistung, instabile Versorgungsspannung, zu große Toleranzen bei den Schraubleisten, zu geringe Einbautiefe. Jetzt habe ich mir endlich das Original A-100 vom Vater des Euroracks zugelegt. Hier passt einfach alles perfekt! Genug Strom, genug Platz, sehr solide Verarbeitung, hohe Passgenauigkeit. Laborqualität zum musikerfreundlichen Preis!

the rows are actually 170 HP, and the lid is shallow so u cannot leave cables inside when closed, but otherwise the case is pretty good, definitely not worth 1200 euros more like 800 euros, its okay though, covid and stuff, also i'm hesitant the handle will last long, they could have reinforced it, alright I will stop complaining now, go ahead and buy it
