If you’re considering the iLoud Micro Monitors for making beats or producing genres with strong bass or 808s, I highly recommend avoiding them. This is honestly one of the most disappointing purchases I’ve ever made.
I’ve previously owned JBL MK305s and Kali Audio monitors, and then decided to try something more compact. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake. While the overall sound quality is decent, it’s impossible to accurately mix or even listen to kicks and bass. They resonate and vibrate uncontrollably — and it’s not caused by the surface, because the same happens even when I hold them in my hands.
You might assume this happens at high volume, but it doesn’t. The distortion appears even at around 10% volume. It’s not due to excessive sub-bass either — the problem occurs even on tracks with cut subs. It’s not my sound card (I use an Apollo Solo), and it’s not an issue of calibration — I followed the instructions carefully, but it didn’t help.
While these speakers might be fine for classical or acoustic music, they’re completely unusable for modern hip-hop or R&B production. I’d give them 0 out of 10.
It’s a real shame I can’t return them, as I bought them in Romania but flew to Thailand shortly after the purchase.
Don't repeat my mistakes. This isn't anti-commercial advertising, as I don't own any other compact monitors and don't even know what to recommend.
