Finding myself in an Indie band after traditionally being more on the jazzy side, I wanted to make a change in my sound (from Otto Link STM NY 7) to the brighter side. So doing the usual rounds of forums, reviews, Youtube videos etc. the DV is hard to miss as a serious contender for this. Unfortunately I was unable to try mouthpieces in person so had to do the suboptimal plunge and just get it without trying and without being able to compare against other pieces that might have been suitable, too. I decided on the DV7 as a more allround option to other possibly even more powerful pieces. I am not disappointed and felt at home on the piece from the first blow. The Link 7 to DV 7 size feels good and I possibly will go up half a reed strength in the future as lots of people mentioned they also do when switching to this piece.
Personally, I can only confirm the outstanding craftmanship and the incredible free blowing nature this piece is known for. It is very loud and powerful under "normal" operation but it can also sing and I can easily produce soft airy tones albeit not as husky as with the Link.
