Being able to switch between Parallel Humbucker, Series Humbucker and Single Coil individually combined with the blender lets you make it sound like any type of bass you want, from jazz to funk to metal. One problem that I've found is that the tone knob doesn't seem to make much difference, and I've seen the same problem in a 4 string SIRE V7 from a friend of mine. On the other hand the active equalisation is really sensible.

Review After 6 years ownership

You get so much sounds options that you will never get bored.
that's how i use it mainly:
single coil mode: fingerstyle (neck pickup) or slap with both pickup
parallel mode: when in some venues the single coil make noise or interference.
series mode: bridge pickup. fast funk playing or with distortion or palm muting
It's a 35" scale bass so remember to buy the appropriate extra-long strings for it. (After trying many string I recommend the same string the bass comes with and a tapered B string)
other strings affects the neck relief even if a proper setup is done.
The neck is affected a bit by temperature changes/humidity even if it has neck reinforcement rods.
Tuners are OK.
The comfort and feeling are great (4 out of 5).
I have to stretch my hand a bit as its a 35" bass scale. it can cause pain for some people.
You can choose to play with string through body or on top (It makes a small difference on sound)
top load is a bit more warner and through body is a bit more punchier.
I have tried the bass also with drop tuning (ADGCF) but I prefer the standard tuning as it sound better to my ears.
Aesthetically I do not like the Marcus Miller name on the headstock.
Cool additional features: by opening the rear panel there is a small knob where you can select how much output you like in active mode.
String/pickup/wood/nut material choice are well balanced with no huge volume spikes when playing and recording.
EQ advise: Mainly in passive mode with a Sadowsky sbp because the output is a bit low . Active mode only when slapping boosting bass and high.
Definitely you will have to do a good set up and maybe a fret leveling when getting this bass if you like very low action.
careful when you adjust the truss rod!!!!...If you strip it will need to remove the fretboard completely to replace it.
The output jack needed to be replaced after one year. (Get a Switchcraft Panel Mount 1/4” TRS Jack BK).

Great Workhorse Bass - Amazing Value
Kvlt 07.06.2020
I love this bass. So much bang-for-buck. Very nice ebony fretboard and polished frets with smooth rounded ends - super comfortable to play. If you take the time to dial in your tone you can get just about any sound out of this. Two humbuckers with individual toggles can be run in series, parallel, or in single-coil mode. Combined with the active/passive switch gives a massive amount of tonal versatility. Can string through body or bridge. Bridge is heavy and high quality. Body and finish are gorgeous. 100% satisfied.
