Millenium RT16 Roto Tom

nice way to add some different timbre sounds to your drumset relativly cheap,remo do not make 14+ sizes rototoms anymore, step up Millenium RT16 Roto Tom, stand and hardware are good, you need to hold the bolt underneat as you rotate to tighten, changed the stock head to an old remo pinstripe I had and get a lovely round attack tone starting around E2 hz, remember rototoms do not have much body so you need to microphone them when playing with other electric instruments, all in all great product!

I purchased this to act as a floor tom for practice at home (16" drums are generally considered floor toms in my experience). The stand and screw for this rototom don't go low enough for that, it goes to about 85 cms at a minimum, which is way too high for use as a floor tom.

Due to the design of the stand and the size of the drum you can't really angle it too much, it just becomes vertical.

I guess you could use it like a gong drum but the diameter of the drum would be too small.

Using it as a rack tom would be odd; it's quite a big drum for that and would be unstable and shaky when you play it. The fixture on the stand to angle it is weak and I would imagine hard hitters would find this unstable and would loosen it quickly.

It's a really poor design for something of this size, not great quality and effectively a pointless product. You can easily overtighten parts of the mechanism too.

It's too bulky to send back, has no value on the second hand market and isn't really fit for practice. It's junk really.

I honestly took it to my local landfill site and disposed of it the next day.

Avoid a semi expensive mistake and buy another product you can actually use for an extended period of time.

Habe mich schon darauf gefreut einen dritten Roto neben den 12er und 14er vom Original Remo-Roto Toms zu stellen.
Verarbeitung: na ja, Mühe hat man sich da nicht gegeben. Guß-Nähte nicht schön abgeschriffen, kein Polishing, nicht richtig zentriert. Das Fell steht auf einer Seite weiter vom Rahmen als auf der anderen. Läßt sich auch nicht anders spannen. Rutscht immer wieder dezentriert. Der Preisunterschied zum Remo ist so wie der Qualitätsunterschied. Na klar.
Positiv: der Ständer ist stabil und optisch einwandfrei und selbst am Rand der Stummelschiene montiert steht der 16er sicher.
Klang: es schnarrte etwas zu Beginn. Obwohl alle Stimmschrauben gleichtief eingeschraubt waren. Eine war locker und klapperte auch bei recht starker Rotospannung. Die Schraube etwas tiefer geschraubt, ging das dann weg. Vielleicht hängt das mit der Unzentrierung zusammen.
Das Fell gefällt mir nicht. Zuviele Oberschwingungen und daher klingt es wie "peng" aber nicht wie "bummmmm" mit 5 "m". Das erwarte ich von Roto-Toms. Gedämpftes aber langes Ausschwingen. Die Remo Weatherking Felle auf dem 12/14er ca 30 Jahre alt (die mit dem schwarzen Punkt in der Mitte) klingen richtig gut dagegen.
Vielleicht kann ich mit den Mängeln und einem anderen Fell leben. Mal sehen was es so gibt. Billig ist der 16er auch nicht gerade, aber ein Original kostet wohl mind. das doppelte. Gebraucht... Fehlanzeige.
Wenn es Sterne für Preis/Leistungsverhältnis geben würde, hätte ich hier 4 Sterne gegeben. So fair muss man sein. Über eine Option "Fellupgrade" hätte ich mich gefreut und sicher wahrgenommen.

Saubere Verarbeitung. Alle Gewinde sind sogar gefettet. Es gibt aber jeweils einen Stern Abzug für

a) den Sound: das mitgelieferte Fell ist nicht so toll.
Mit einem Pinstripe kling das Tom prima.

b) den Ständer: dieser dreht sich leider mangels Memory Klemme mit, wenn man das Tom etwas strammer dreht.

Aber alles in allem ein guter und empfehlenswerter Kauf.
