Romero Creations D HO 6-String Guitarlele Nylon

I wanted a bariton ukulele form factor, but without the hassle of 'reinventing' my voicings because a ukulele lacks the E and A strings. Those strings are my anchor points for voicings and a regular bariton ukulele doesn't work for me like I'd like it to.

This guitarlele brings the mellowness of a short scale nylon string instrument, but plays like a regular guitar. It's especially good for fingerstyle, any music at all.

I play jazz and Bossa tunes sound great on the D HO6, but I can also comp for a vocalist and sound good. I don't strum chords and maybe if you're into that, it might lack a little string separation.

The D HO6 needs a few hours of breaking it in and you can hear it opening up. The Pepe Romero strings sound great and craftsmanship is good. Intonation is good, fretwork is good, no glue residues anywhere.

Ergonomically, it shines on the couch where I can play sitting way back. Can't do that with a guitar. For standing up, it needs at least one strap button. I might add that later.

All in all a terrific instrument that I'll play for many years to come.
