Soyuz 013 FET-M

If you are looking for a great sounding small diaphragm condenser that can combat the “Neumann sound”, look no further!
The Soyuz 013 FET-M captures sound with a pristine depth and precision that still continue to amaze me. The top end is beautiful and balanced, and yet far from “clinical”. These microphones are my go to for ambience, pianos, horns, strings, electric and accustom guitars.

J’utilise un couple appairé de Soyuz 013 comme micros principaux sur une grande variété de prises. Ils offrent exactement l’équilibre entre précision et douceur que je recherche. Le rendu est très homogène, toujours détaillé sans jamais devenir agressif.
La captation reste extrêmement naturelle et organique. Ce qui les distingue vraiment d’autres modèles, à mon sens, c’est leur transformateur toroïdal interne, qui apporte une légère compression harmonique très musicale et donne au son une belle cohésion.

I purchased the Soyuz 013 FET primarily for recording acoustic piano and delicate acoustic instruments, and they have exceeded all expectations.
Many small diaphragm condensers (SDCs) on the market tend to suffer from an overly hyped, brittle top end that requires a lot of de-essing or aggressive EQing. The 013 FET is the complete opposite: the top end is silky smooth, open, and airy without a hint of harshness. The transformer-coupled output adds a subtle, beautiful body and weight to the low-mids that makes acoustic pianos and strings sound deep, dimensional, and immediate.
The transient response is remarkably fast yet musical – you capture every mechanical nuance and percussive attack of the hammer hitting the string, but in a warm, cinematic way rather than clinical.
Build Quality & Accessories:
The build quality is flawless. The mics have a solid, hefty weight, the finish is gorgeous, and the custom wooden storage case plus the included pads and clips are premium grade.

Ultra-smooth top end with zero harshness
Fast, organic transient response
Rich low-mid body and great low-end definition
Superb handcrafted build quality and packaging
Cons:
None for this quality, truly a modern classic.
