I bought the Startone PCR-20 Bb Cornet Blue as an early Christmas present for my 6yo son to help him practice brass techniques. It’s lightweight, durable, and perfect for a young musician—especially since I don’t have to worry about dents. The valves are a bit noisy, there are no trigger slides, and it arrived covered in slide oil residue. Still, for around £100, I’m genuinely impressed with how playable and sturdy it feels. It’s not a serious instrument, but it’s a great starter cornet for building confidence and skill. I chose this one over the p-Cornet as this has metal valves, unlike the p-Cornet so I hear. The rating I’d give it considers the price paid—this is by no means on par with a professional cornet, but it’s a solid starter.
