Excellent and also works as two
Tanj 28.10.2024
In the UK, we call this device a 'gobo' but when I typed that into Thomann's search, I didn't get the right results!
So it took a little searching to find them.

When I first saw it on the website, I was surprised that there wasn't a second set of feet included, so that the upper unit can stand on its own to create two shorter gobos.
It seemed very obvious to me and I wanted the option to use it this way.

So I bought it, planning to come up with some sort of solution (maybe I can find something suitable at my local hardware store or perhaps I can make something myself?)

Once it arrived, I was very pleased to find that actually the upper panel can sit on these three connectors, they are wide and easily strong enough to hold it up, so that was a pleasant surprise.
But I would suggest an upgrade where the upper unit also has the two slots and an extra pair of feet for this purpose, it seems to me many people would be interested in using it this way, to create a 'dry' corner when recording an acoustic guitarist for example.

Anyway onto the unit itself, the first thing I did was try it in front of a drumkit.
I first tried it in its tall configuration.
I have a live room which is currently being refurbished, so all the old acoustic treatment is gone, to soon be replaced by new, but in the meantime, I hoped this would enable me to continue using the room and also even once the room is finished, to still be useful for screening off certain instruments etc.
So the room sounds very live and uncontrolled at the moment.

In front of the drums, I instantly heard a dryer sound, less sustain (which I thought was coming from the drums but was obviouly room sound) and a sound that was instantly easier to work with and more controlled, so I would say it's a very successful product.

I then tried it again on the drums, this time with the two panels in front of the kit, side by side.
This also worked well and the panels are actually more substantial than would be assumed by the picture.

The three connectors between them are very solid, in fact it takes quite a bit of force to put them on or take them off. the feet are also a good solid connection.
The panels are also heavier than I expected and are even thicker than some pro gobos that I have seen in commercial studios.

When I ordered, I thought they looked fair value for money but actually now I have them, I would say they are a bit of a bargain.
Quality studio gobos are expensive and these are nice gobos for a very reasonable price.
Definitely good enough for professional use.
T Akustik are making some really good products right now at great prices

Mobile wall that does it all!

Excellent solution to both isolate physically but also fortify your space against unwanted noise! I am using it to shield my office desk at home which is in an open space, whilst my wife uses it to isolate sounds for recording commercials. Very much recommended as it is extremely easy to built and transfer around, having a good sound isolation!

Macht seinen Job gut
