Behringer BM-15M Resonance Filter

Got mine in about a week ago and ran it through extensive testing.

Build quality is so-so, slightly misaligned inputs with respect to the chassis, thin, resonant plate steel and delicate wooden sides with sharp edges that will get dented easily.

My unit doesn't have the whine the initial units seemed to be suffering from, but it does have the issue of not bypassing the sound to the right channel (only left). Also, there's no way to completely turn down the volume, as sound always keeps bleeding through, even with Output set to 0.

The filters with respect to the patterns in the editor are mixed up, with the highest filter control actually affecting the lowest band. Very confusing and this makes the patterns play unlike they're intended to sound.

Same with MIDI notes to trigger the filters: The highest C controls the lowest band. Totally illogical and unlike the real MIDI Murf.

The unit is generally very unstable as soon as you want to start using it over MIDI from a DAW. The unit froze up on multiple occasions, like it could no longer handle any further MIDI input. Total freeze until power cycle.

When it is working, it's a really cool effect so I'm a bit torn. But I will have to return this one since I don't trust the damn thing. Will try again later.

I’d been looking at this pedal for a while, and now that I finally have it, I’m very impressed overall.

The only downside is that there’s no manual included in the box, and there isn’t one available on the Behringer website either. You have to figure things out by trial and error. That said, the controls become intuitive after a short time, and the discovery process was actually quite enjoyable.

The pedal offers 12 rhythmic patterns, giving plenty of creative options. By adjusting the frequency controls, you can get anything from auto-wah style sounds to more psychedelic filter effects. The Drive control is also a nice addition, adding a bit of grit when pushed.

Build quality feels solid, and the unit is quite large compared to standard pedals, so keep that in mind when planning your pedalboard.

For the price, this is excellent value. I honestly didn’t expect this level of performance at such a low cost.

I haven’t yet tried it with a synth or explored the external connections, but for guitar use alone, it’s already a very fun and inspiring pedal.

Vor dem Update hatte das Gerät ein sehr hochfrequentes Piepen und ich war überlegt es zu Retournieren, gut das ich 2-3 Tage gezögert habe. Behringer hat ein Update in der Guitar App / neue App nur für Bodentreter hinterlegt.
Aufgespielt und siehe da das Piepen ist weg.
Man kann nun echt schöne Filter Sequenzen damit hin bekommen. Auch zum Färben ist der Murf sehr geeignet. Stellt man die Seq auf 1, also ohne das eine sequenz läuft, kann man das Filter wie gewohnt nutzen und mit Drive gibt es dann noch echt tolle Färbungen. Egal ob ich meinen Super6 daruch jage oder eine Roland 101 oder 303, die klingen dann sehr schön gefärbt.

nach einem Kurzcheck fällt mir zumindest unangenehm auf: bei Belegung beider AudioOuts wird im Bypassmode nur der Left/Mono mit dem Signal vom AudioIn versorgt ... das ist für one in two out-Geräte auch eher ungewohnt und für meine Zwecke eher lästig, weil ich gerne dahinter stereo-ausgelegte Pedale hängen würde .... bei denen dann bei Bypass des BM-15M ein Kanal "ausfällt ... eine Bedienungsanleitung habe ich seltsamerweise nur bei einem Drittanbieter gefunden (suche "QSG_BE_0709-ALP_BM-15M-MURF-BOX.pdf"), nicht auf der Behringerwebsite. Auch der mikroskopisch mit "UserManual" beschriftete QR-Code auf der Vorderseite der Verpackung führt zwar zur Produktseite, nicht aber zum versprochenen UserManual ... Also erst mal ein wenig ausgebremst in meiner Euphorie ... Thomann hat wohl vergessen, die Produktbilder (DIE gibt es korrekt bei Behringer ;) ) zu tauschen, denn ich habe keine "Murf Box" bekommen, sondern, einen "Resonance Filter" (kein Drama ... aber ein bisschen schade)

Ob das Ding überhaupt für Gitarre taugt, werde ich noch feststellen müssen, tendenziell scheint es mit Klängen besser zurecht zu kommen, die längere Signalzeiten haben ... aber das ist wohl Geschmacksache. Ich bin mal gespannt, was die Software bietet, und wie es um die Midisteuerbarkeit steht, sieht zumindest auf dem Implementationchart vielversprechend aus ...
