SOMA Lyra-4 White

Got the Lyra 4 after watching a few reviews on you tube, was after a different type of synth and this thing just stuck out. After a just one day its clear this thing is a beast. It can do heavy bass to pads to endless crazy fx. A good thing i use this to do is just record in ableton without locators on and just create a ton of fx and bass then chop it all up with some resampling. I use it for dnb so its perfect to add something unique to any track. Looking forward to using the cv side of the unit . Some say its limited compared to the 8 but it the limits that push creativity so for me the glass is half full.

The Lyra-8 may sound "more alien", as reported by quite a few users. However, it is just how you compare eight with four. For me, the Lyra-4 is easier to control and to get to the desired sound without too much getting lost in the forest of modulators. I have two Lyra-4 units and so I have "true stereo". Just by setting the knobs of one nearly the same as the other, like kinda detune, which gives me an extra Lyra dimension, nice for eerie horror sounds. The cv ins do help in getting the more rhythmic stuff, however, not as dramatic like a regular synth would, it seems the input voltages should be higher. I mainly use the Lyra-4 without external sequencing. The lack of audio in is not a big loss as the focus is on Lyra own sound rather than external sound. Overall, It sounds more Earthly and less Alien, so to speak. I use both Lyra-4 together on a stereo equalizer to significanlty enhance the audio, each on an individual eq channel, both ending up in a delay/reverb for additional space like character. Compared to the Lyra-8, I have more control over the modulation, albeit a bit more simplistic. For me the Lyra-4 is a definite keeper, contrary to the Lyra-8 that I sold three times :-)
