Great playing guitar/bass
ChillYourTts 09.12.2024
Picked this guitar as a fan of Loathe, Thornhill, and other bands, who use baritones in tunings like Double Drop D and similar.

Overall, it makes all of the sounds that I would like it to make.
I am a primarily a guitar player, who occasionally plays bass.
With this thing , I can record a "guitar" sound on a bridge pickup, and a "Bass" sound on a combination of 3. Which exactly depends on the context of the song.

In regards to quality - the neck is fabulous, no complaints on finish quality. I know that Antigua finish on Jazzmaster baritone's pickguard peels off quite easily. Unlike that Jazzmaster, the finish on the pickguard is way more durable.

I would rate quality 5 out of 5, but I found a ground wire was broken off on the pickup switch panel. In the schematic I can see that it is mostly redundant, because everything is grounded in multiple points, but still.
Also, the setup was OK-is, strings were too high, and needed some intonation adjustments. Also, trem arm makes a lot of creaking noises, when you push or pull on it, but i don't use it anyway.

Overall very pleased with the purchase.
Great instrument.

Way, way better than expected!
Wikstroem 14.06.2025
I did a bit of research before buying this bass an expected to have some work to do to get this into a playable instrument. Not the case at all!

I've had the pleasure to unbox 1 Fender Custom shop, 3 Gibson Custom shops and 2 standard Gibsons in the span of 30 years and I have to say that hands down; this Squire was better set up from the factory than all of them!
The nut was perfectly cut, no sharp fret ends and even the intonation was (almost) done good. Only that low E was out, but it had range enough to probably get it right, but I didn't bother as I was going to put on some Labella flats anyway.
The thicker strings did not need additional filing of the nut and gave better tension to the instrument and a thicker tone.

I have no complaints of the tuners or the tuning stability in general. Not even that "dreaded" Jazz master vibrato is bad no be honest.

I also need to mention that I have not needed to shim the neck nor flip the bridge tailpiece around to be able to set intonation, but I did need to cut off two of the set screws as they were poking out too far, touching the strings. I did however stop the tailpiece from rocking back and worth. It's a horrible design in my opinion. It's like a seesaw that will be way out of intionation if it's in the other position than it was intonated to.

Very well done Squier!

it was even better than what i expected.
tuhaf 14.02.2025
It’s indeed the perfect sweet spot between a regular guitar and a regular bass.

The tone I get is immaculate, and achieving it is effortless. It adds so much depth to my recordings.

The build quality is on par with the Fender American Series.

The Antigua color is an acquired taste.

So yes, I highly recommend this guitar to anyone even slightly considering purchasing this monster.
